I am representing a leading Australian commercial builder seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead and manage its estimating division. This is a key leadership role positioned close to the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, offering the opportunity to influence major commercial construction projects while mentoring the next generation of estimators.

The Role As Senior Estimator, you will take ownership of the estimating function, overseeing all tendering and pricing activities while leading a small team of estimators. This role requires a balance of leadership and hands-on estimating, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and strategic input into major bids.
You will also play a key role in mentoring and developing Junior Estimators, building a high-performing estimating team while maintaining direct involvement in complex tenders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the estimating division and overall tendering strategy
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for commercial building projects
- Conduct quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications
- Review project documentation and identify risks and cost opportunities
- Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Work closely with project managers and senior leadership during bid preparation
- Develop and maintain cost databases and estimating benchmarks
- Mentor and manage Junior Estimators to improve capability and performance
- Participate in post-tender negotiations and bid presentations
- Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or similar
- 10+ years’ experience as a Commercial Building Estimator
- A background working with a large tier commercial builder
- Proven experience pricing large-scale commercial construction projects
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff
- Excellent commercial acumen and attention to detail
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
