Fetch have an exciting opportunity for an experience Project Accountant with a key client in the mining industry commencing 2025/Early 2026. This business is entering the new year with exciting commissioning and development plans.

About the role:

  • Implement and maintain project cost management systems to ensure accurate budget tracking, forecasting, cash flow oversight and project performance analysis.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial presentations, reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to support monitoring of project financial performance.
  • Work closely with Project Team to align budgets with operational objectives, monitor expenditure, and provide financial advice on risks and opportunities.
  • Support the assessment and validation of vendor proposals, including cost comparisons, commercial reviews and alignment with project budgets.
  • Assist in the preparation and submit financial documentation for milestone payments, acquittal reports and annual income and expenditure statements.
  • Coordinate project-related external audits, including preparation of working papers and resolution of queries.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, funding agreements and internal financial policies.
  • Liaise with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders to address project cost concerns and provide clear financial insights.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial systems, reporting tools and project accounting practices.

  Experience & Qualifications Required:
  • Tertiary Accountancy / Finance / Commerce Qualification
  • Professional qualification such as CPA/ACCA/CIMA Equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience as a Project Accountant or Cost Controller supporting large-scale capital or operational readiness projects.
  • Strong analytical capability and attention to detail, with the ability to provide clear and accurate financial insights.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with operational and financial data.
  • Experience working closely with multidisciplinary project teams, balancing financial considerations with operational realities.
  • A confident communicator, able to translate financial information for a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, responsive and adept at building trusted working relationships across teams.

Additional Requirements:
  • A valid Australian Drivers Licence
  • Recent contactable references 
  • High level of attention to detail is essential
  • The ability to work autonomously and commitment to meet deadlines / objectives
