We are seeking a highly organised and hands-on leader to manage a drafting department and be the crucial link between design, project management, and production. If you have a passion for joinery detail, excellent people skills, and a commitment to quality, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
As a Drafting Manager, you will be the core of the technical delivery, responsible for:
- Team Leadership & Mentoring:
- Directly manage, support, and mentor a team of two in-house Drafters.
- Oversee and manage the output and performance of the external Drafting Outsourcing Company.
- Project Coordination & Communication:
- Serve as the main technical liaison with the Joinery Project Manager to ensure smooth project flow.
- Work closely with the Joinery Production Manager to guarantee constructability and optimal workshop efficiency.
- Technical & Administrative Duties:
- Complete and manage all Requests For Information (RFIs) promptly and accurately.
- Develop and maintain the Drafting Schedule to align with overall project timelines.
- Manage the entire Drawing Approval Process(internal and external sign-offs).
- Quality & Standards:
- Implement rigorous Quality Control (QC) checks on all internal and outsourced drawings before issue.
- Ensure all drafting output adheres to company standards, industry regulations, and project specifications.
About You:
- Proven experience in a Drafting Management or Senior Drafting role, ideally within the Commercial or Residential joinery.
- Trade Qualification in Cabinet Making or Shopfitting desired but not essential.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in relevant drafting software (e.g., Microvellum, Pytha, Cabinet Vision, AutoCAD, or Solidworks).
- Highly organised with a focus on meeting tight deadlines and maintaining high standards.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Perth, Western Australia.
