Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and detailed estimates for HVAC projects, including ductwork, piping, equipment, and controls
- Review project specifications, drawings, and tender documents to develop cost-effective solutions
- Work closely with the design teams & clients to ensure estimates align with project goals and timelines
- Conduct site visits to gather essential project information and evaluate potential risks
- Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and negotiate terms
- Maintain an updated database of costs, materials, and labour rates
- Provide input on value engineering, cost-saving strategies, and alternative solutions
- Support contract negotiations and contribute to the overall success of the bidding process
- Act as a point of escalation & guidance to more junior members of the team
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in HVAC/mechanical estimating, preferably in a design & construct environment
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC design, installation, and industry standards
- Proficiency in estimating software (Bluebeam/Groundplan/SimPro) and Excel; experience with CAD or BIM is a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering accurate estimates
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently
- Degree or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred
