Join a well-established civil contractor delivering underground infrastructure projects across Melbourne’s northern suburbs. They specialise in directional drilling for electrical and communication networks and offer a stable pipeline of work and a strong safety culture.

The Opportunity

You will be part of a Horizontal Directional Drilling crew installing underground conduits and associated civil works across road reserves and live asset corridors. The role covers both drilling and tracking duties, as well as general civil and plant operating tasks where required.
Key responsibilities:
  • Horizontal directional drilling and drill tracking for underground installations
  • Asset location, DBYD planning and interpretation
  • Working around live services and mains in road reserves
  • General truck driving (HR) and support to the civil crew
  • Excavator operations for entry and exit pits (where ticketed)
  • Daily equipment checks, basic maintenance and cleaning
What You Need
You’re a team-focused operator who takes pride in safe, high-quality work and can represent the business professionally on site.
Essential:
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a HDD driller and/or tracker
  • Experience on TRACTO Grundodrill 18 ACS and/or Ditch Witch JT30
  • Experience locating/tracking with DCi Falcon F5 or similar locating systems
  • HR truck licence and manual driver’s licence
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Strong understanding of DBYD, plan reading and working around live utilities
Highly regarded (not mandatory):
  • VEDN / VESI ESI Worker accreditation and current ESI Worker Card
  • CitiPower / Powercor / Jemena network inductions
  • Excavator and other plant tickets
  • Traffic management and First Aid Level 2 / CPR certificates
