An exciting opportunity has become available for a commercially focused Finance & Commercial Manager to join a growing business based in North Melbourne.
This hands-on role will oversee the day-to-day finance operations while partnering closely with Operations and Estimating teams to improve financial performance, reporting, and business processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day finance operations including cashflow, AP, AR, payroll, and reporting
- Prepare cashflow forecasts and supplier payment schedules
- Oversee invoice approvals, supplier management, and retention tracking
- Manage monthly WIP reporting, job costing, project performance, and margin analysis
- Partner with Operations to identify cost savings, risks, and efficiency improvements
- Improve finance systems, processes, reporting, and data accuracy
- Work closely with external bookkeepers and accountants to ensure compliance and timely reporting
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience in finance, accounting, or commercial operations
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, and project reporting
- Construction, trades, engineering, or project-based industry experience preferred
- Strong Excel skills and experience with Xero (essential)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner with operational teams
- A continuous improvement mindset and ability to work autonomously
- Finance, Accounting, or Business qualification preferred
- CPA/CA highly regarded but not essential
- Current driver's licence required
