Job description
My client is a market leader in engineering services in Australia and worldwide. Overseeing Melbourne-based projects, this role will play a pivotal role in collaborating with business operations to ensure financial success, risk reduction, policy adherence, and benefit realization.



The Role

Key responsibilities may include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Oversee business performance, project reporting, and analytics for projects based in Melbourne and wider Victoria.
  • Ensure timely completion of month-end reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Lead responses to internal and external audit requirements.
  • Provide strategic analytics and decision support for business performance.
  • Conduct P&L forecast modeling, supporting cost control and effective resourcing decisions
  • Ensure accurate recording of % complete and projected forecasts.
  • Review and correct labor entries and project-related transactions.
  • Assist Project Leaders with cost-to-complete concepts, resource planning, and variance analysis.
  • Escalate target shortfalls and provide regular progress updates.
  • Train and assist project leaders in forecasting input into the Tetra Link System.
  • Act as a conduit between Invoicing Officer/Project Confirmation team and project leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with Policy 100 and ownership of the annual budget cycle.
  • Act as a key Finance representative, supporting and implementing Finance change.



The Person

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and prior experiences:

  • CA / ACA, CPA / ACCA qualification desirable - In the absence of such, some progress towards such will be essential
  • 2 to 4 years of management accounting / business partnering experience preferred
  • Experience working on a project basis or in a project accounting / project finance role would also be advantageous
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of building solid relationships and managing multiple stakeholders
  • Highly proficient in Excel modeling, advanced formulas, and spreadsheet data manipulation.
  • Understanding of Revenue Recognition Standards, particularly IFRS 15 (ASC 606)
  • Ability to explain financial information in layman's terms
  • Commercial experience preferably in a medium to large organization, with a preference for project and timesheet-driven environments, multinational elements, and/or multiple locations/offices/branches.
