Job description
My client, a multidisciplinary construction business is recruiting for Senior Quantity Surveyors and Managing Quantity Surveyors across multiple sites throughout the UK, this role has been created due to the number of live schemes within their rail business. The company, a tier 1 construction business and delivery partner to major railway clients has schemes which include stations and depot projects UK wide.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor reports directly to the Commercial Manager and deals with the day-to-day commercial activities for all jobs allocated to them.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage and keep cost to completion sheets up to date for each project.
  • Internal meetings with Project Managers and Site Agents to review budgets, project costs and discuss compensation events.
  • Assist with procurement, raising requisitions, sending enquiries for projects and tenders.
  • Checking purchase requisitions and raising PO’s.
  • Prepare and submit monthly sub-contractor payments as and when required.
  • Manage applications from suppliers for works completed.
  • Ensure certifications have been issued by the client for works completed and liaise with accounts to produce invoices.
  • Payment chasing.
  • Produce monthly CVR’s and carry out ongoing cosy analysis.
  • Approve monthly supplier invoices.
  • Close out the project commercially.
Essential:
  • HND/degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent
  • Previous experience of the civil engineering industry
  • Familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract and knowledge of current Construction Law
  • Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors,
  • including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates and
  • accruals calculations
  • Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis
  • Excellent team player whilst also holding the ability to work independently on own initiative
  • Excellent time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to encourage and support junior members of the Commercial Team
Desirable:
Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards
