Key Responsibilities/Outcomes
Service Delivery
- Undertake inspections of work sites to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Proficiently interpret relevant legislation, policy, and technical information.
- Instigate appropriate enforcement action, including education, warnings, and legal proceedings.
- Conduct reactive and proactive inspections of building sites.
- Ensure accurate records of inspections and enforcement actions are maintained.
- Deliver first-class customer service practices.
- Resolve issues raised by customers regarding damage to Council infrastructure assets.
- Build constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively across department silos towards successful outcomes for the community.
- Actively contribute to process improvement and identify further development opportunities.
- Actively contribute to implementation of improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Completion of relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in Asset Protection or Compliance roles.
- Experience in surveillance of construction-related activities.
- Proven experience in investigation and enforcement procedures.
- Ability to prioritize work effectively.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to provide surveillance and protection function for Council.
- Current Victorian State driver’s licence.
- Assist members of the public, Public Authorities, builders, developers, and contractors with relevant legislation.
- Periodically undertake other duties within the team.
- Support other officers with enforcement activities.
- Follow established safe working practices.
- Take reasonable care for own and colleagues' health and safety.
- Report hazards, incidents, and potential risks.
- Actively participate in preventative health and safety strategies.
- Adhere to relevant legislative requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain complete and accurate records.
- Uphold Council's service charter and codes of conduct.
- Accountable to the Team Leader Asset Protection Enforcement.
- Authority to administer Acts and Regulations and issue permits.
- Authority to provide specialist advice.
- Responsible for developing working relationships with stakeholders.
- Make decisions and apply judgement within agreed guidelines.
- Exercise judgement to obtain compliance with relevant legislation.
- Seek guidance when necessary.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prepare evidence briefs.
- Time management, prioritization, planning, and organizing.
- Ability to supervise others.
- Understanding of personnel practices.
- Conflict resolution and negotiation.
- Effective communication.
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
- Completion of relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in administration and interpretation of legislation.
- Prior experience in Asset Protection and Compliance roles.
- Understanding of Traffic Management associated with worksites.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and plans.
- Current Victorian State driver’s licence.
