This week our Meet the Fetchy spotlight is on our Compliance Administrator, Lexi Newland. To say that Lexi is an essential part of the Trades & Labour team would be an understatement, as she balances the onboarding, contracts, and payroll of every temp – we simply could not operate without her.

Originally from the Sunny Coast, Melbourne won over her heart with its margaritas and nightlife. Stoked that lockdown is easing, she can't wait to get back to what she loves most, travelling.

Name: Lexi
Position: Compliance Administrator
Time in Role: 2.5 years

Tell us a bit about your career to date and how you got into Compliance Administration?
When I was moving to Melbourne from Queensland, I was doing a bit of temp work through agencies as I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, or if I wanted to stay here. During that time, I took quite a liking to the culture of recruitment agencies so came in for an interview at Fetch and here we are!

What’s your favourite thing about working at Fetch?
Apart from the people it would have to be the trust I have built in my role. it’s nice coming to work and everyone has the confidence in me that I will just get in and get the job done.

What’s one thing you wish people knew about recruitment / your industry?.
I think some people look at recruitment as a last resort, but it’s not. There are some great opportunities here at Fetch we have such a wide range of recruiters working different roles for both contract and permanent work.

Number 1 career highlight to date?
The big move I made to London a few years ago would have to be up there. Adjusting from working in a small coastal town to the hustle and bustle of one of the biggest cities in the world was crazy. In more recent times winning Fetch’s Ultimate Teammate Award last quarter was special.

Your life mantra is …
Okay, don’t laugh but it’s “you only live once” ….. some of my worst and best decisions have come from that.

If you were on death row, what would be your last meal?
Can it be Tapas? Just a whole lot of everything accompanied by some margis of course.

Name three things you are grateful for right now.
Lockdowns overrrrrrr!!
My family and my friends, always.

Tell us a #FunFact about you!
I am a diehard 80’s music fan. My friends like to keep the aux cord away from me when we’re out.
