In Volume 13 of #MeetTheFetchies we are peeping into the wonderful life of Clare, who is a vibrant member of our mighty Property Team.

With a Property degree under her belt and 6 years spent dominating the Melbourne Real Estate market in Residential sales, Clare came to Fetch with a wealth of Property knowledge.

Clare is a hilarious, hard-working, Disney loving, Espresso Martini master, and she isn’t afraid to tell you whats on her mind – which is actually our favourite quality of hers!

She doesn’t ‘beat around the bush’ and will tell you exactly what you need to hear when you need to hear it, as well as giving the best support and encouragement to her team, clients & candidates on a daily basis.

To learn more about this absolute legend, keep on reading!

Name: Clare Thompson

Position: Property Recruiter

Time in role: 4 Months

Tell us a bit about your career to date and how you got into working in recruitment.

Throughout my 20’s I worked as an Estate Agent. I loved my job, working with property and helping people realise their dreams, but the 6-day weeks, late nights of photo shoots and open for inspections had given me burnout. I took an opportunity to temp at a Real Estate Recruitment company and realised that I still got to work with property, people, and have a sleep in on a Saturday… over 12 months later, I think I’ve ‘fallen’ into my long term career!

What’s your favourite thing about working at Fetch?

My manager Geoff’s high fives – it’s the simple things that keep me motivated

What’s one thing you wish people knew about recruitment?

Recruitment made me think that the world is far more a dangerous place then I ever realised. Within my first week of running a temp desk 4 candidates had ‘family emergencies’, 2 crashed their cars on the way to work and one slipped and broke his leg (but funnily enough was back looking for work within a week). What I’m trying to get at is that I wish people knew that honesty is the best policy when it comes to working with a recruiter, my bullshit metre is on fine form these days.

Number 1 career highlight to date:

Winning the ‘Rookie of the Year’ Award after my first year as an Estate Agent. That was nearly 10 years ago, but I still get goose bumps when I remember my name being read out in front of 1000’s at the Awards Ball.

Your philosophy on life is / The words you live by are …

My favourite Poem is ‘If’ by Rudyard Kipling – they are very wise words to try and live by.

Which celebrity would play you in the movie of your life?

Cameron Diaz – I once got told I looked like her less attractive sister so I guess we must have similarities.

If you were on death row, what would  be your last meal?

Would access to a seafood Buffet with free-flowing bubbles be pushing my luck on death row?

If so;

Starter – KFC wicked wings + 1-piece original recipe

Main – Mum’s spaghetti bolognaise

Desert – A mint Viennetta

Name 3 things you are grateful for right now.

The high five Geoff Just gave me, my beautiful supportive family, and the fact I’ve just booked my next trip to the snow!

Tell us a #FunFact about you!

When I was 12, I entered a Disney competition for the World’s biggest Toy Story fan and actually won it! Thanks to me, the Thompson family got an all an expensive paid trip to Florida so I could meet my hero’s.

One job I’m recruiting for RIGHT NOW is:

Senior Project Manager / 2IC for a boutique Project Management Consultancy – the lady CEO is #goals
