About the Role:  
 
As a Botanist with our client, a leading environmental consultancy in Australia, you'll focus on office-based tasks including analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. Responsibilities include leading state-wide botanical surveys, conducting flora assessments, and preparing technical reports for environmental assessments. Your role will utilise expertise in ecology and botanical guidance to inform decisions and solutions. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Undertaking and leading botanical surveys throughout the State including detailed, basic, and targeted flora and community surveys and subsequent flora identification. 
  • Preparing technical reports including vegetation and flora assessments to support referrals and environmental assessments.  
  • Travel throughout the state to undertake surveys, often in remote locations for extended survey periods, but always considering your work/life balance. 
  • Conducting specific ecology surveys and assessments. 
  • Maintain knowledge of ecology and botanical guidance and approvals. 
  • Making technical decisions and providing solutions based on expertise.

Key Criteria: 
  • Degree qualification in environmental science or ecology discipline, zoology  
  • Significant experience consulting experience as a botanist, environmental scientist preferably within Western Australia. 
  • Current drivers’ licence (c class), manual preferred. 
  • Proven experience in and a sound understanding of current environmental issues and legislation. 
  • Proven experience in proposal development and project management and working as part of a team. 
  • Proven experience in supervision of junior team members, with the ability to mentor, and taking a leading role in field surveys. 
  • Ability to deliver critical project outcomes under pressure with enthusiasm and drive.
