john bell director fetch recruitment speaking our story meet the team

Our Story

Fetch Recruitment was launched in 2012 by director John Bell, a construction specialist recruiter within the Melbourne market. His passion for relationships and delivering quality results saw him strive to create a recruitment agency with a culture people enjoyed being a part of, either as a client, candidate or employee.

Fetch has expanded rapidly to become a leading national multi-disciplinary specialist recruitment agency providing both permanent and temporary placements.

Our story as told by our Director, John Bell:

After six years working as an employee, recruiting within the construction industry for both one of the largest recruitment agencies in the world and a small boutique agency of three people, I had the vision to create an organisation that acted as a true partner to construction businesses and helped drive their success. Through building strong relationships and deeply understanding their culture and business, I knew there was a space to build a business that would add value to both individuals and the industry itself.

I also had a passion to help people progress their career. There was nothing more exciting to me than helping a young, talented go-getter secure an opportunity with a market leader that would shape their career for years to come.  And I was determined to unlock that same passion in our own employees and set Fetch apart as a recruitment employer of choice. To create a culture and an environment where everyone would wake up in the morning and feel excited to come to work. To inspire and nurture each employee to achieve their own aspirations and enable them to remove any roadblock that would prevent them from achieving success.

At Fetch, we have a passion to make a difference and to create positive change in the lives of everyone we work with. I am so proud of everyone in the business today and those who have joined us along the journey. The support and respect we have for each other is something I have never witnessed so strongly in a work environment. We are where we are today only because of these people and their commitment to our brand.

Seven years ago, I hit three major milestones in my life: proposing to my now wife, buying our first house and starting Fetch Recruitment. With a soon-to-be wife and a mortgage on my shoulders, making Fetch work was my only option.

However, in a market where some sectors are declining and others increasing, we need to constantly be evolving to support our clients and candidates with not only the needs of today and tomorrow but the future years of Australia's built environment.

As a business we have always focused on relationships, we always tell our teams to put themselves in their stakeholders’ shoes. If they were the candidate, think about who they would personally want to be employed by. If they were the client, which candidates would they want to employ? We want the best for all parties involved. If both the clients and the candidates are happy, then we are happy.

Fetch as a group are aiming towards a goal of 30-40% growth over the next 12 months. We predict a 50-70% growth in our infrastructure divisions both in blue and white-collar.

The Fetch Trades and Labour team plan to grow accordingly and take hold of other key market areas, including plans to double our workforce headcount over the next 12 months.

With the broadening market over the last year, it is essential for us to ensure our stronghold in the Construction division at Fetch. We will be adding further resources and ensuring a refreshed focus on this area to support our strategy for a 20% growth.

In this challenging and ever-changing market, it is essential that whilst expanding this business we stay focused on our core message and purpose - we must create positive change in everything we do and with our values as the pillars, Fetch will be sure to continue to thrive and grow.
