Commercial/Finance Manager

Melbourne CBD & Inner Suburbs

The Commercial/Finance Manager will work support the business through adding a level of commercial insight and accountability. They will be responsible for utilising their business acumen in accordance with standards to ensure accuracy, and to achieve budget.

The Commercial/Finance Manager will play a key role in utilising our software to develop an efficient routine that is consistently followed. They will also drive systems and process improvement to increase efficacy and communication. They must be a people person who represents the practice with integrity and passion.

Respobilibilties:

  • Reviewing and maintaining the weekly cash report and four month rolling cash flow
  • Provide weekly cash position to director and external Accountants
  • Backup support & knowledge for all finance tasks
  • Management of the Accounts Payable functions
  • Approvals of purchase orders and the procurement process
  • Assisting the Marketing Manager with a fee-setting structure for potential clients and the review of future opportunities to determine feasibility
  • Preparation and presentation of monthly board reporting
  • Preparation and presentation of annual budget and growth strategy planning documentation
  • Managing project management, including setting up new projects, clients, cost and charge rates and running all reports and analysing data to inform management team of the progress of new and existing projects including budget and gross profit analysis.
  • Monthly project profit report showing financial performance against budget and discussions on project improved performance where needed.
  • Assistance with the administration of client contracts - fees and conditions and communicating changes to Job Captains and clients

To Be Considered:

  • A minimum of 5 years of management experience in accounting/finance. Tertiary educated in commerce, business or a related field and preferred with CPA / CA qualified.
  • Previous role within the design, construction, architectural or similar industry with an understanding of Project Accounting.
  • An understanding of the design process and an ability to effectively review projects from initial introduction to completion with Job Captains.
  • Excellent strategic thinking while being open to new perspectives/better ways of doing things
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, Deltek & Xero with the ability to successfully implement and learn new systems
  • Outstanding organisational and leadership abilities with a focus on solutions and priorities.
  • Financial awareness, cost control and Forecasting skills
  • Ability to create solutions, satisfaction and growth by delegation and example.
