Responsibilities:

• Financial management and the procurement of individual projects
• Liaise with the project manager regarding timing of costs and finance drawdowns
• Monitor costs and compare to budget
• Attend to payment of invoices
• Preparation of documentation monthly for finance drawdown
• Running and manage all reports and analysing data to inform Practice Manager of the progress of new and existing projects
• Carefully and strategically managing the time, cost, and quality of our projects
• Report weekly budgets, profits, losses to Practice Manager

• Preparation and analysis of monthly management reports tracking financial performance against budget and variance/operational analysis and commentary
• Project specific management financial reporting
• Cash Management: including preparation and maintenance of cashflow forecasting and all bank transaction interfaces such as statement reconciliation, processing of payroll, data entry, AP and AR
• Driving systems and process improvement within the business
• Strong management focus on meeting profit margin targets and gaining efficiencies
• Annual budget preparation and growth strategy planning documentation
• Board financial reporting and presentation
• Review future opportunities to determine feasibility

To Be Considered:

• Degree in commerce, business, or related field

• CA or CPA qualified
• Previous experience working as an Accountant within the construction space

• It is critical that the Commercial Accountant is proactive and not reactive
• Previous role within the design, construction, architectural or similar industry
• Knowledge of accounting standards and relevant principles

• Experience with Deltek software would be advantageous

• The firm has invested in the latest software and the commercial manager should have a strong natural inclination to use technology and develop an efficient routine that is consistently followed.

• Knowledge of Estate Master
• Advanced knowledge and experience with Xero or a similar accounting solution essential
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

• Strong commercial acumen and business partnering skills
• Minimum 5 years management accounting/finance experience
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
